As an Orange County Realtor it's important that I be able to tell you about the neighborhood you're interested in.
As an Orange County Realtor my job is to provide my clients with information about how to buy a home and how to sell a home. I know where the houses for sale are. I know what the current market trends are including selling prices, loan and mortgage information. It’s also important that I be able to tell you about the neighborhood you’re interested in. Most of the time I’m out in “the field” meaning I am out and about in Orange County.
One of the fringe benefits of being an Orange County Realtor is that I end up eating in a lot of different cities and enjoying a lot of different kinds of cuisine.
I recently discovered a very hip and tasty restaurant in Costa Mesa called, California Shabu Shabu.
If you are unfamiliar with the term Shabu Shabu (as I was) here is a very nice and accurate summary from Wikipedia:
The dish is prepared by submerging a very thin slice of meat or a piece of vegetable in a pot of boiling water or dashi (broth) made with kombu (kelp) and swishing it back and forth several times. (The familiar swishing sound is where the dish gets its name. Shabu-shabu directly translates to “swish-swish”.) Cooked meat and vegetables are usually dipped in ponzu or “goma” (sesame seed) sauce before eating with a bowl of steamed white rice.
Once the meat and vegetables have been eaten, leftover water (now broth) from the pot is customarily combined with the remaining rice, and the resulting soup is usually eaten last.
California Shabu Shabu In Costa Mesa
The goal of California Shabu Shabu is to provide fresh delicately sliced meat or seafood, tofu, noodles, and assorted vegetables and serve them with savory dipping sauces.
In all honestly I discovered California Shabu Shabu quite by accident or should I say it was a stroke of luck? Below is some text from the California Shabu Shabu web site which gives a much better description of this fine Costa Mesa restaurant than I could.
Let me just say that if you are looking for a restaurant in Costa Mesa and are looking for a new type of dining experience I highly recommend California Shabu Shabu.
California Shabu Shabu in their own words:
The goal of California Shabu Shabu is to provide fresh delicately sliced meat or seafood, tofu, noodles, and assorted vegetables and serve them with savory dipping sauces. At our restaurants, you are the chef! You cook your own food at your own pace in a pot of boiling water, seasoned with kelp, adding interactivity to your experience. The dipping sauces included with every meal are: Ponzu, which is citrus-based, and Goma, which is sesame based. To create a taste all your own, customers are offered a variety of condiments, such as pressed garlic, green onions, and radish, to enhance the flavor of the dipping sauces.
California Shabu-Shabu has been providing fresh, healthy, and high quality ingredients at extremely reasonable prices since 1997.
California Shabu-Shabu is the first restaurant of its kind to open its doors in Orange County. The original restaurant is located in Fountain Valley, California. California Shabu-Shabu has been providing fresh, healthy, and high quality ingredients at extremely reasonable prices since 1997. Along with everything else, comes an emphasis on great customer service, making California Shabu Shabu the most visited Shabu-Shabu restaurant in Orange County.
