Paradise Designs Inc in San Clemente was founded in 1990 by brothers Tom and Jeff Garton. For 20 years Paradise Designs has been making Orange County even more beautiful by building custom residential and commercial landscapes.
I’ve used and recommended Paradise Designs several times over the years and have never been disappointed. Paradise Designs says they create “out of this world landscapes” and I assure you they do.
I stopped by their web site a few of days ago and found a couple of intriguing ideas that I wanted to share with my readers.
Paradise Designs provides all the services you’d expect from a professional landscaping company including: design, construction, maintenance, irrigation, ponds and even putting greens. But there are two things I found on the site that I probably would not have thought of had I not seen them:
Sustainable Landscapes
What is a Sustainable Landscape? Rather than try to explain it let me use Tom and Jeff’s own words:
A Sustainable landscape is one that creates an attractive environment with minimal use of resources. It is designed to fit each particular site and climate so that it can virtually take care of itself using sustainable techniques that will not deplete or damage natural resources. Some of the most common and innovative sustainable features for use in a landscape include; water saving systems, drought tolerant plants, permeable surfaces, water harvesting systems, and green roofs to name a few.
I was familiar with most of the features Tom and Jeff listed except for a Green Roof. Reading a little further I found they also called it a Living Roof.
The Living Roof
Again let me use the words of Paradise Designs to tell you what a living roof is:
A green roof is an extension of your home or business and involves the creation of a contained green space on top of a structure. Benefits range from providing insulation and conserving water to food production, improved aesthetics and improved air quality. Think literally “outside the box”. Consider the new possibilities for that old static roof deck or as an alternative to conventional re-roofing!
Several things came to mind when I read that. First was that it is an incredible idea. Then I thought how much it made sense and finally I found myself thinking about how cool a living roof would look.
Ever since I read that I’ve been finding myself coming home, pulling into my driveway and staring up at my roof. From there my imagination runs wild. The tagline for Paradise Designs is: ‘Close your eyes and imagine…’ I think it’s very appropriate.
Paradise Designs combines art, science, construction, common sense and caring when creating their landscaping projects. That is a combination that you just don’t see very often. If you’re planning any kind of landscaping project I would strongly suggest that you check out my friends at Paradise Designs.
